Costco Opens August 14,2026… And ALDI Is Coming Next 👀

Otsego, Albertville and STMA: Apparently We’re Not Done Growing Yet.

Just when you thought Costco opening tomorrow was the biggest retail news our area was going to get…

Here comes ALDI.

And this one is going to get people talking.

A new ALDI grocery store is officially approved for Albertville, just down the 60th Street corridor from the brand-new Otsego Costco. The City of Albertville continues to list the project among its current developments.

Yes, Another ALDI. And Yes, It’s Really Happening.

According to the City of Albertville, the proposed store will contain approximately 20,664 square feet and will be located along 60th Street NE between Lymon Avenue and Mackenzie Avenue NE. Albertville City Council approved the ALDI site plan, with conditions, on December 1, 2025.

Technically, this one is Albertville, not Otsego.

But considering its location near the Otsego Costco and I-94, I have a feeling most of us around STMA are simply going to think of this entire area as one rapidly growing retail corridor.

And that corridor is changing FAST.

Costco NOW. ALDI Next.

The timing makes this particularly interesting.

On Friday, August 14, Costco officially opens its new Otsego warehouse. Costco itself confirms August 14 as the opening date.

Meanwhile, ALDI's Albertville project continues moving forward, and the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reported on July 29 that the company will open an Albertville store near the new Costco warehouse.

What we do NOT have yet is an official ALDI grand-opening date.

As of August 13, Albertville does not appear on ALDI's official published Grand Openings list, so if you see an exact opening date floating around Facebook, I would treat it as unofficial until ALDI announces it directly.

And ALDI Is Growing Everywhere

This isn't happening in isolation.

ALDI announced plans to open more than 180 new U.S. stores across 31 states during 2026, part of a much larger national expansion.

Now Albertville is part of that bigger retail story.

For those of us who have watched St. Michael, Albertville and Otsego evolve over the last couple of decades, it's pretty remarkable.

Tomorrow we're celebrating Costco Day 1.

Next, we're watching ALDI.

And my guess?

This corridor isn't finished yet.
